The Clúster de l’Energia Eficient de Catalunya and the newspaper ARA, with the collaboration of Estabanell, promote a new edition of the ARA-CEEC Conversations series. A session to analyse how current changes in the international order and geopolitics are redefining Europe’s strategic position, with a direct impact on energy, markets and competitiveness.
At a time marked by global uncertainty, the transformation of international balances and pressure on strategic resources, energy has consolidated itself as one of the main axes of the European debate. When geopolitics moves into the markets, its effect becomes visible in security of supply, in the functioning of the electricity market, in competitiveness and, ultimately, in the bill.
With this session, we aim to analyse how this new global scenario impacts markets, conditions decision-making and redefines some of the major challenges of the energy sector.
A conversation to understand the European moment
The session will open with a conversation between Carla Turró, deputy director of the newspaper ARA, and Pol Morillas, director of CIDOB and member of the Board of Directors of Cercle d’Economia. As a leading expert in geopolitics and international relations, he will offer a reading of the global context and of the major movements that are redefining Europe’s position, with an increasingly direct impact on energy, markets and competitiveness.
From the global context to the reality of the energy sector
After the initial conversation, the session will move on to a round table with representatives from the energy sector and the business fabric to bring this context into the reality of the energy system, the functioning of markets and the challenges currently faced by companies.
Among the participants will be Esteve Rodríguez, Director of Markets and Operations at Estabanell, Trinidad Sala, regional delegate of Red Elèctrica de Catalunya, together with other senior representatives from the energy and business fields. The round table will focus on issues such as the functioning of the electricity market, the impact of geopolitics on prices, competitiveness challenges and the role of energy in Europe’s immediate future.
