On 18 September, from 9:00 am to 2:15 pm, the Catalan Energy Cluster (CEEC) and CSIM are organising the workshop “Challenges in Decarbonising the Building Stock”, a technical session focused on the energy refurbishment of existing buildings. The event will take place at the Administrative District of the Government of Catalonia.
The aim of the workshop is to explore the main challenges, opportunities, and strategic approaches needed to move towards a more energy-efficient and decarbonised built environment. Throughout the morning, institutional representatives and sector professionals will present strategies, public policies, funding instruments, technological solutions, and future trends in the field of energy refurbishment.
The session will begin with a keynote address on the new European regulations concerning sustainability and energy refurbishment, delivered by Ainhoa Díez de Pablo from the Spanish Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (MIVAU). This will be followed by a presentation from Jordi Mas, Director General for Housing of the Government of Catalonia, who will outline the upcoming public policies and funding frameworks.
The programme is structured into three thematic blocks:
Block 1: Guidelines and priorities for decarbonisation, focusing on large-scale planning and financing.
Block 2: Key stakeholders and end users, featuring a representative (to be confirmed) from the Horizon Europe Cluster 5 – Energy programme.
Block 3: Technological solutions applied to energy refurbishment.
The session will conclude with a closing address by Anna Camp i Casanovas, Director of the Catalan Institute for Energy (ICAEN).
