Aspiravi is embarking on a new chapter in Spain through its subsidiary Aspiravi Energía, with a clear objective: to translate the global concept of the energy transition into a tangible, local impact. In other words, to connect renewable energy production—in this case, solar photovoltaic power—directly with consumers’ actual needs.
Green energy, local generation and solutions tailored to each customer are the three pillars underpinning Aspiravi Energía’s approach. This solid foundation draws on the experience and extensive track record of an energy company founded in Belgium in 2002 that now operates in three other countries. In Belgium, 88 municipalities make up the group, a pioneer in the renewable energy sector whose activities span the entire cycle, from developing and building power plants to operating them and supplying electricity to end users.
The Erica solar farm: the starting point for an expanding project
Aspiravi Energía’s first solar farm in Spain, which has been operating at full capacity since December 2024, is named Erica and is located between the city of Valladolid and the municipality of Zaratán. It covers 10 hectares and can generate enough electricity to meet the annual consumption of around 3,300 homes.
Aspiravi Energía has ambitious plans for the future and is already working on four additional solar photovoltaic projects, representing an investment of €21 million, which will incorporate energy storage systems. This storage will maximise the use of solar output and open up new possibilities for supplying renewable electricity to industry.
Aspiravi Energía’s current operations, made possible by Erica, are based on four principles:
A 100% renewable electricity supply tailored to specific requirements, taking into account each customer’s usage times, needs and consumption volume.
Shared self-consumption for industrial businesses near the solar farm. A portion of the plant’s output is offered to companies located less than 5 kilometres away to optimise their energy efficiency. For certain types of businesses, combining renewable electricity supply with shared self-consumption can deliver savings of up to 25% on electricity bills.
Solutions for large energy consumers, including advanced options such as Energy Control and power purchase agreements (PPAs), designed to better manage exposure to market fluctuations and secure a long-term green electricity supply.
Electricity bill and consumption audits to help businesses and households understand their actual costs and explore the renewable energy options available to help them save.
With the Erica project, Aspiravi Energía is launching its operations in the Spanish market through a model that combines solar photovoltaic generation with a range of electricity supply and self-consumption arrangements.
