The last January 11th, the catalan newspapper El Punt Avui published an article focusing on one of the current energy challenges: the increasing demand from data centres and the resulting pressure on the distribution grid across the region.
Under the title “The Need to Make an Effort on the Distribution Grid”, the piece features the insights of Josep Ortí i Llop, Corporate Director of Consulting and Digital Solutions at JG Ingenieros S.A., partners of the Catalonia Cluster for Efficient Energy (CEEC), who provides an in-depth analysis highlighting several key points.
The expert warns that the distribution grid is approaching its limits and that immediate investments will be necessary if these projects are to be retained locally. He also emphasises the importance of data centres being located near generation plants and notes the sector’s efforts to reduce energy consumption, with PUE values currently ranging between 1.15 and 1.2.
At the CEEC, we recognise JG Ingenieros as a leading example in the transformation towards more sustainable and efficient buildings, highlighting their commitment to innovation, digitalisation and sustainability as central pillars in all of their projects.
