The Cap Roig Gardens, in Calella de Palafrugell, have hosted the first edition of EcoNòmics Costa Brava, the green economy forum promoted by the Oikia association, held on 8 and 9 October.
The event brought together leading business, institutional and social representatives to address the key challenges of decarbonisation in Catalonia, focusing on electrification, the development of electricity grids, renewables and the strategic role of energy storage.
With the participation of prominent figures such as Sílvia Paneque, Minister for Territory, Housing and Ecological Transition, and Josep Rull, President of the Parliament of Catalonia, the sessions highlighted the urgency of establishing a major national pact. As the initiative's promoters, Francesc Mauri and Joan Herrera, pointed out, the energy transition is no longer solely an environmental challenge but has become the most significant driver of reindustrialisation for the coming decades.
The role of Francesc Ribera and the CEEC in transforming the productive sector
Within this framework of debate, the Clúster de l'Energia Eficient de Catalunya (CEEC) played a leading role through its Cluster Manager, Francesc Ribera. Ribera took part in the round table “Green industrial competitiveness: a shared challenge”, joining representatives from the industrial and logistics ecosystem, including Pau Vila (LC Paper), Hector Calls (Port de Barcelona) and Heikki Willstedt (AEE).
During his contribution, the CEEC representative argued that sustainability and decarbonisation are decisive factors in the competitiveness of Catalan industry. Ribera highlighted the need to accelerate public-private collaboration and bring energy-efficiency technological solutions closer to SMEs, stressing that the deployment of clean infrastructure and energy digitalisation must be accompanied by agile frameworks that channel investment directly into the productive sector.
