Electra Caldense Energia, energy marketer of the Electra Group, has put into operation the first industrial shared self-consumption in Catalonia in Santa Eulàlia de Ronçana, province of Barcelona, on the roofs of the company Neftis Laboratorios. Electra Installacions is the installer that has been in charge of the engineering, installation and legalization, and Elecsum for the energy distribution. Electra Caldense Energia, Electra Instal·lacions and Elecsum are 3 of the companies that make up the Electra Grup, an energy holding of services, pioneers in energy solutions, based in Caldes de Montbui and operating in various areas of the energy sector, where they are in constant work and progress, with the implementation of pioneering projects executed and in operation.

The Neftis Laboratorios energy self-consumption project consists of a photovoltaic solar installation with a total power of 407.56 kWp. This facility is connected via network. "This project is a great milestone: it is the first industrial shared self-consumption legalized in Catalonia, with several associated consumptions, two generations, and which have the administrative authorization of the Generalitat of Catalonia from 06/10/2022" he explained Anna Domenjó, commercial technical director of Electra Caldense Energia, and added that "the electrical system is in operation and activation, with its corresponding measures and billings with self-consumption and sale of surpluses, since 11/25 /2022”.

Energy saving and sustainability

The expected production is 506,939 kWh per year, which is 40.2% of the energy currently consumed by the company in its production process in its facilities. Of all the planned photovoltaic production, 65% will be used for self-consumption. Neftis Laboratorios will stop emitting 200 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere, which is equivalent to planting 6,700 trees each year. In addition, the installation will make it easier to achieve significant annual energy savings that will allow the investment to be repaid in just a few years. Neftis Laboratorios will produce and consume its own 100% green energy (40.2% from generation and 59.8% from marketing through Electra Caldense Energia, marketing

of the Electra Group which, maintaining its philosophy, identity and positioning towards the energy transition, only markets energy of renewable origin in its entirety).

Marc Xalabarder, general manager of Neftis Laboratorios, explained that "this energy project fits perfectly with the strategic objectives of the company, which are adaptability, sustainability and growth", and added his satisfaction to participate in a project of 'energy self-consumption that will allow them to drastically reduce the emission of C02 into the atmosphere.

The advantages of shared self-consumption

Although in other countries this system has been operating for years, in Catalonia and Spain industrial shared self-production has not been possible until a few months ago. Currently, companies devote a lot of effort to applying sustainability measures that generate a sustainable energy return. In this sense, shared self-consumption is one of the forms of energy generation that offers greater growth potential in the medium and long term.
