Reus City Council has completed the construction of the largest photovoltaic plant in the city. Located in the municipal vehicle depot, the installation consists of 1,736 550 W panels and a peak power of 950 kWp, while the nominal power will be 840 kWn. The forecast is for a maximum production of 1,398,259 kWh per year and for Reus Energia to manage the surplus. The project has involved an investment of 1,191,712 euros without VAT, of which approximately 55% will be subsidized with Next Generation funds. The installation is part of the energy community of the Agro-Reus estate and is part of a public-private initiative. The plant will be connected to the network very soon, once the last formalities have been completed.

The panels of this photovoltaic plant occupy an area of 4,535.93 m2 spread over the roof of the vehicle depot. To make this possible, pergolas have been built that are occupied through a state concession of the use of this space for a period of eleven years.

The energy produced by the energy community of the Agro-Reus estate, with a total power of 4.2 MW and the generation of 5,500 MWh per year, will be for the self-consumption of the companies that are part of the energy community . On the other hand, the surplus managed by Reus Energy will be allocated to the consumption of municipal buildings. Currently, the municipal initiative manages the photovoltaic solar installations of the municipal schools, the IMFE Mas Carandell, the Xavier Amorós Library, the Gaudí Centre, the Mercat Central and the Olympic Pavilion. It is planned that the installations of a second phase will soon be executed at the Rubió i Ors school and at Redessa Tecnoparc.
