This week, the Catalan Energy Cluster organised a webinar to present the four AEI 2024 projects it participates in: Smart Energy Paci II, Platdat III, Insiga IV, and Bioenergytraces. The session, led by the cluster’s project manager, Laia Balagué, included the participation of over thirty professionals from the sector, including representatives from the companies that form each consortium.
The first project, SMART ENERGY PACI II, was presented by Pere Fonolleda and Iu Perramon (PACI Global). The project aims to help companies reduce energy consumption through an intelligent platform based on artificial intelligence and machine learning. As explained by the project representatives, the project is currently working to improve its analytical capabilities to detect potential savings and optimise revenues through Energy Savings Certificates (CAE).
Meanwhile, the PLATDAT III project was presented by Laia Cunill and Jordi Falguera (Wattega) and co-managed with 5SKILLS. Currently in its third phase, the project focuses on developing an interoperable platform based on Docker technology and algorithms for optimising emissions and energy costs. The objective is to demonstrate that the climate transition can be achieved without compromising business profitability.
The third project was INSIGA IV, presented by Xavier Cipriano (Beedata Energy). The project explores how to incorporate energy efficiency services in energy communities. Based on the platform developed in previous phases of the project, SIE Comunitat, AI techniques are being applied to automate audits, implement ISO 50001, and manage market volatility through simulation and energy planning tools.
Finally, the BIOENERGYTRACES project was presented by Guillem Marpons (Aiguasol). This consortium works to develop software for small companies in the solid biomass sector with limited digitalisation. According to Marpons, they are currently working on supply chain traceability, process automation, and the definition of decision-making indicators. They have also identified the active involvement of user companies as a challenge, and alignment with the new European regulation on deforestation as an opportunity.
During the meeting, the Catalan Energy Cluster’s project manager, Laia Balagué, also took the opportunity to outline the 2025 call, awaiting the official release of the guidelines in the coming days.
