The Catalan Energy Cluster has visited this morning the hydro-fuelling station located in the Port of Barcelona that supplies green hydrogen to the America's Cup support boats. The president of the Catalan Energy Cluster, Joaquim Daura, and cluster manager, Francesc Ribera, participated in a visit organised by ACCIÓ for executives and public representatives at the facilities of the Air Products subsidiary, Carburos Metálicos, official hydrogen supplier of the 37th America's Cup in Barcelona.

During the visit, participants were able to see first-hand the green hydrogen supply station at the Port of Barcelona run by Carburos Metálicos and witnessed the live refuelling of the chase boats that are supporting the America's Cup sailors. These boats, which operate with green hydrogen at a speed of up to 50 knots generating zero emissions, accompany the AC75 racing sailboats on the regatta field.

This visit was carried out within the framework of the agreement between ACCIÓ and the America's Cup to promote the decarbonisation of the nautical sector in Catalonia. Specifically, it responds to the America's Cup's commitment to transfer to ACCIÓ the technological knowledge generated by this competition in the field of green hydrogen in order to promote the industrialisation of this technology in Catalonia.
