Xavier Farriols, member of the CEEC Board of Directors and representative of Factor Energia, and Francesc Ribera, Cluster Manager, recently met with the Honorable Mr. Antonio Gómez Peña, Consul of the Dominican Republic in Barcelona. Also present at the meeting were Lorenzo Sancassani, Commercial Attaché of the consulate, and Paulette Antigua, International Relations Executive at ProDominicana.

The meeting focused on the economic and energy landscape of the Dominican Republic, as well as potential investment opportunities for Catalan companies seeking to participate in projects aimed at modernising the country’s electricity system. CEEC representatives provided an overview of the Spanish energy market and other Ibero-American countries with which cluster members maintain business relations, highlighting successful models of transformation towards a more competitive and sustainable system.

It was agreed to establish a working group to facilitate the entry of Catalan companies into the Dominican market. In addition, an informational session for CEEC members is planned in the coming months, designed to highlight both the opportunities the Dominican Republic offers to energy sector companies and the policies in place to attract foreign investment.

The meeting served as a starting point to strengthen collaboration between Catalan companies and the Dominican Republic’s energy sector, supporting the internationalisation of the cluster while contributing to the modernisation of the national electricity system.
