The Catalan company AEInnova, specialized in the manufacture of autonomous IoT sensors, has today signed a commercial agreement with the Japanese corporation CBC Group, one of Japan's leading multinationals. This new alliance will allow it to commercialize its technology developed for the entire Japanese market, especially in Japanese industries and smart cities. For its part, CBC Group becomes the company representative and distributor of its products and services in the Japanese market.
The Catalan company, founded in 2014 and based in Terrassa, was born as a spin-off from the microelectronics and electronic systems department of the UAB. Currently, it is already one of the leading companies in the field of autonomous IoT sensors, and is part of the list of 50 most important Deeptech companies in Europe. AEInnova fuses energy harvesting technologies with advanced IOT devices and edge/cloud computing technologies, for the digital transformation of the industry reducing the environmental impact.
This agreement comes after a joint collaboration in the development of a new version of hardware to adjust to the requirements of the Japanese market. This has allowed the execution of a first pilot test at a Japanese chemical plant. AEInnova came into contact with CBC Group in the first quarter of 2022 thanks to the KGAP+ internationalization program of the Japanese government and the Agency for Business Competitiveness (ACCIÓ).
AEInnova had already had previous contacts with Japan, thanks to the good institutional relations it maintains with its government. For example, in 2018, the Catalan company participated in a technological mission in energy efficiency organized by the Centro para el Desarrollo Tecnológico y la Innovación (CDTI) and the National Research and Development Agency NEDO of Japan. Shortly after, in 2019, AEInnova was invited to the largest startup fair in the country called WARAKU Summit, which is held in the city of Fukuoka.
This year, AEInnova has also been present at the Tokyo Decarbonization Expo 2023, thanks to the collaboration with the Center for Industrial Cooperation of the European Union.
