On 27 May, we took part in the institutional reception of a business delegation from the Italian region of Trentino, held at ACCIÓ’s conference hall in Barcelona. The event, organised by the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Barcelona, brought together institutional representatives from the Autonomous Province of Trento and the agency Trentino Sviluppo, alongside a delegation made up of 17 Italian companies linked to various industrial and technological sectors.

The event opened with welcoming remarks by Alberto Pezzi, Senior Manager for Clusters at ACCIÓ, who presented the Catalan cluster ecosystem and highlighted the role of clusters as drivers of competitiveness, innovation and internationalisation.

CEEC activity and the broader vision of the energy sector

Within this framework, Francesc Ribera, CEEC Cluster Manager, presented the organisation’s activity and strategic vision. He explained that the main mission of the CEEC is to enhance the competitiveness of its members by fostering collaboration, promoting innovative market solutions, and supporting the transition towards a new energy model.

Today, the CEEC has established itself as a leading organisation within the Catalan energy sector, bringing together more than 200 organisations, promoting 20 innovation projects, and planning to organise more than 100 activities throughout 2025.

Internationalisation Plan and collaboration with ACCIÓ

Our participation formed part of the panel dedicated to internationalisation projects, moderated by Emma Vendrell, Head of ACCIÓ’s International Cluster Projects Team, and also featuring Joan Puaté, Cluster Manager of the Digital Cluster.

During the session, Ribera presented the 2024–2026 Action and Prioritisation Plan, a strategic roadmap developed in close collaboration with ACCIÓ. The plan aims to foster the international growth of the sector through a structured strategy that includes:

  • Trade missions to markets such as Australia, Brazil, Colombia, Ukraine, the United States and Germany.
  • Reverse missions and study visits to countries including Japan, Switzerland and China in order to learn from international best practices.
  • A digital approach focused on strengthening an international eTrade strategy to generate new business opportunities.

Bilateral meetings and future challenges

As part of this exchange initiative, we also held strategic meetings with several companies from the Italian delegation. In response to the shared interest in the energy sector, a dedicated meeting was organised with Green Energy Storage SRL.

This technology company specialises in the development of stationary flow batteries for energy storage, a key solution for supporting the integration of intermittent renewable energy sources. During the meeting, participants gained further insight into the development of this innovative technology and discussed the company’s international expansion plans, which foresee the introduction of these solutions into the Spanish market in the near future.

The day concluded with a visit by the delegation to the Àmbit Cluster HUB facilities and showroom, further strengthening ties between the Catalan innovation and business ecosystem and Trentino’s industrial network.
