The purpose of this acquisition is to strengthen 3E’s market position in Spain, Portugal and Latin America, and to accelerate the company’s growth thanks to the acquired expertise, references and market access.

Siconia is an independent engineering consultancy highly specialized in solar PV services towards investors, IPP, lenders, developers and EPC. The company was founded in 2015 in Barcelona by three experienced partners with the capability to work at every phase of a project. Siconia’s portfolio accounts for more than 110 projects in 16 countries totalizing more than 2.8 GW of engineering services.

Founded in 1999 in Brussels, 3E has become a world-leading technology provider and technical advisory company in the field of renewable energy, serving its customers from its offices in Belgium, France, South-Africa, Turkey and India. 3E’s objective is to accelerate the energy transition, applying innovative solutions to the complete value chain, from applied research to excellency in the operation of assets.

For the last two years Siconia has been collaborating with 3E with excellent results for both parties. This cooperation has allowed the expand the products and services offered by Siconia to its customers as well as to increase technical capacity and human capital to meet market needs.

SPANISH RE MARKET IS GROWING STRONGLY

The integration comes at a very good time. The Spanish Renewable Energy market is experiencing a very strong growth after 10 years of stagnation. For instance, since June 2018, the PV capacity has been increasing by double digits every month.

The auctions of renewable energy and the ambitious objectives of the National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan (PNIEC) are at the basis of this successful growth story. The plan foresees the development of nearly 40 GW of photovoltaic energy alone by 2030. In terms of electricity production, new records are being broken. In February 2020, for the first time, more solar energy was produced than nuclear energy.
